Gardeners love the rain gage because they can have an idea of whether they will have to water plants or not every morning. You can find models right around $30.

Miniature greenhouse- This shelving system has a plasic overlay that acts like a greenhouse. These shelving systems are ideal for gardeners who start their seeds indoors during the winter. This gives gardeners a way to safely harden off their seedlings before they permanently get moved outdoors. You can find these systems for right around a hundred dollars.

It is a tough call what sheets are better when you compare Egyptian cotton to bamboo. You will have a hard choice indeed. It is a very personal choice as to what sheets are best for you.  Both of these faberics have wonderful qualities associated with them. Bamboo is much less well known then Egyptian cotton.

Egyptian cotton sheets typically have a high thread count. This higher thread count increases the durability of the sheets allowing them to have a long life. The high thread count of Egyptian cotton is part of what gives it such a luxurious feel. You may not immediately knotice now soft these cotton sheets can feel.  As you wash them and use them you will feel how soft they can be. Nothing beat crawling into a bed that is covered with a soft material. Cotton breathes well so you won’t feel like you are smoldering during the night. Compared to bamboo sheets they are on the less expensive side as far as price.

The fast growing sustainable recource of bamboo, uses no pestisides when it is grown.  If you are “going green” bamboo sheets may be just what you are looking for. Bamboo sheets have a lower thread count but are said to be just as soft, if not softer then Egyptian cotton. Hypoallergenic and antibacterial properties are also two factors that bamboo has that Egyptian cotton doesn’t. Though cotton breathes, bamboo insulates.  Bamboo can help keep you warm in the winter, while keeping you comfortable in the summer.

Over all either of these faberics will be luxurious feeling. Egyptian cotton is less expensive then bamboo, but bamboo is a renewable resource. You will need to decide what will fit your needs the most. If you don’t mind the extra cost, the bamboo sheets may shock you.

Hiking and backpacking are great experiences, as they allow you to “get away from it all” for a day or two (or three or four!) and decompress; but if you get lost while hiking or backpacking, your “fun, relaxing” experience can turn into something stressful and not fun at all!

Lots of people make the mistake when hiking of assuming they “know exactly where they are going” – and they will even leave the path for short, exploratory adventures, figuring that when they are ready to return to the path they will simply “backtrack,” and these people often learn (too late!) that backtracking in a wilderness where everything looks the same rarely works!

In addition to looking around to establish landmarks when take these short breaks to get your bearings, you should also turn around and look back up the path; after all, when you return from your trip, you will be heading the opposite direction on the path, and it will be important for you to get an idea of what you will be looking at.
